Do you recognize the name Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin? He is the man who designed the mystery clock. He is also the man that Harry Houdini took his stage name from. Houdin was a self taught magician and engineer who was fascinated by the idea of the disappearing act and sleight of hand tricks. He created the art of using transparent glass displays armed with hidden mechanisms that connected to clock bases he built. He was THE inventor for this unique field of time pieces.
Sometimes you have to take control of your tomorrow. I am currently in a state of not enough hours in the day so tomorrow becomes two weeks later. It would appear that today must be the day (actually I need a few more hours today, that I don’t actually have, to get everything done for freak’in TOMORROW)!

Hello There!! This has been a really, really busy week and we are not done yet. I am preparing a blog about fashion trends from NYFW and LFW but have not completed it yet. Wednesday I spent the day at the Baltimore ACC Craft Show and came away inspired, it was just what I needed. So until we meet again, a little taste of fashion, a little taste of the ACC Show and music. Food for the soul!
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you 3 looks from the darling of New York Fashion Week, Rose Assoulin, 4 peeks at a variety of jewelry and kicking off the presentation, the Dixie Cups, Iko, Iko.
I am a lover of all things Fornasetti but I especially love Fornasetti plates. Whenever I find, purchase and am prepared to share my treasures on my site, they are gone before I even get them photographed. Their value continues to rise. Collectors are always searching for ‘one particular plate’, one that they can’t live without, the one that completes one set. This of course is the way for any collector. Collectors collect. Collectors hunt.
Eyes are often thought to be the ‘window into the soul’ revealing and concealing one’s deepest thoughts and feelings. A “lover’s eye” miniature was an off and on jewelry trend from about 1775 through 1820 although there was a resurgence during Victorian times. The idea was that the painted miniature of the giver’s eye would be presented to a loved one. The eye would be recognizable only to the recipient and could be worn publicly keeping the lover’s identity a secret.

One of the big trends this spring is the bib or statement necklace using natural components. They are the “notice me necklaces” of 2014. So, first a few statement necklaces and then some pieces using natural wood or stone. Needless to say, the trend toward using natural components and/or reclaimed gold or silver is HUGE. Going green has never been hotter.
