Peridot is the birthstone for August and the 15th anniversary gemstone. Here are two very interesting facts about peridot. Some peridot is quite ancient, it has been found in pallasite meteorites, which are remnants of our solar system’s birth. It is estimated those stones are approximately 4.5 billion years old. In 2005, peridot was found in comet dust brought back from the Stardust robotic space probe. Yep, that is the truth.

I dropped off #3 on Sunday and spent a couple of days getting her settled. I think she is going to be very happy in her new home, I certainly hope she will be.
I better stay away from My Girl, Toy Story 3 and Million Dollar Baby (forget about Bambi and Old Yeller) for a good long time. Thank goodness #2 and #1 are still at home. I guess it is the time of year, but over the last few weeks, I have seen the poem below posted several times on blogs from all over the world. Well, I am also going to share Tina Fey’s message, A Mother’s Prayer with all of you. It is from her book Bossypants and I think she pretty much nails it. God Bless You Tina Fey.
I don’t always find these kind of posts terribly helpful but…I thought this one was good. It is by Mary Cantando of the Woman’s Advantage. I am trying to gear up for the fall season during the dog days of August and I found this to inspiring. I am great at making lists, there is no shortage of work that needs to get done, there just does not always seem to be enough hours in the day to do it all! So, I need to work smarter and more efficiently! Just maybe you feel this way too. Enjoy!
Since it was discovered in the late 1980’s, Paraiba tourmaline’s striking neon blues and greens have electrified the gem world. The gem’s unique vivid coloring instantly set it apart from other tourmalines. The stone was discovered by Heitor Dimas Barbosa, who spent years digging in the hills of the Brazilian state of Paraiba on his personal hunch that he was going to find something completely different under the “Paraiba hill”. Mr. Barbosa began digging in 1981 and it was in the autumn of 1989 that the first crystals were being brought out. Mr. Barbosa was getting over an illness at the time and never saw the first crystals as they were sold before he saw them!
