I apologize for not writing more this week. It has been CRAZY!!!! I am sooo tired! Lots and lots of things are happening – all good – just no time.
Just in case YOU have some free time, here are a couple of suggestions to keep you busy.
Go watch “Dior and I,” a 2014 documentary feature film directed by Frédéric Tcheng. It is about, yes, you guessed it, the House of Dior. The film is an insider’s look at the creation of a collection at the famous French fashion house (I just used three F’s in a row!) The film is really a tribute to the creative genius of Raf Simons, the new artistic director who designed his first haute couture collection in less than eight weeks. It usually takes six to eight months! Unfortunately tomorrow, June 4, is the last day to see “Dior and I” at Landmark’s E Street Cinema in D.C. or at Regal in Fairfax, but it will be available soon on DVD or on demand. Watch for it.
Another option – read Diane von Furstenberg’s autobiography, “The Woman I Wanted to Be.” I have said it before and I will say it again, I find Ms. von Furstenberg to be an inspiration. She is a fascinating person and a survivor to boot. She has done it all on her own terms. Like all of us, Ms. von Furstenberg is many things: mother, wife, socialite, designer, muse and businesswoman. She is honest with her successes and failures. The book is a refreshing read.
Later mashed potaters, talk at you next week!
