Remember my post on the the Art Nouveau Movement and the enameled Tiffany orchids? Well, one has come up for sale! This beautiful and rare Art Nouveau Orchid Brooch by Paulding Farnham is coming up for auction this Sunday December 7th 2014 at Chicago’s Leslie Hindman Auctioneers.
The brooch was made by Tiffany & Co, circa 1890. Tiffany was just starting to come into its own around this time. At the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris, Tiffany’s designer Paulding Farnham, exhibited twenty four enameled orchids as well as other jewelry and the entire display earned Tiffany & Co. a gold medal at the fair.
The orchid brooch at Leslie Hindman is titled “Style No. 4: Calanthe Veitchli” and is composed of yellow gold and polychrome enamel set with diamonds and emeralds. The rare jewel is estimated at $20,000 to $30,000.
It could be yours!
