The diamond mining company Alrosa announced Wednesday that it has dubbed the 83.59-carat diamond it found in February “Mothers of Russia.”
The stone was extracted by Alrosa’s Aikhal Mining and Processing Division from processing plant No. 14 at the Jubilee kimberlite pipe.
The Jubilee pipe also yielded a 105.6 carat diamond in December and a 102.85 carat diamond in September.
The 83.59-carat octahedron-shaped crystal is transparent with yellow hue, according to Alrosa.
