Raising children does funny things to your experience of time.
Minutes can sometimes seem like hours while you are trying to get a colicky baby to sleep. Hours can seem like days when trying to find new ways to keep your grumpy, teething toddler entertained. Days can seem like weeks when trying to learn the best way to communicate with your developing, hormonal teen.
But then one day your realize (you blink) that the minutes amassed into years. It all went by so fast.
An anonymous someone said it best: “The days are long, but the months are short”.
There have been good days and bad days, mostly good days. Your children’s ups and downs become your ups and downs.
Of all of my many roles, being a Mom has been my favorite. I would not have given it up for anything in the world.
So to all of my fellow Moms, please take this one day and make it long on joy and short on vexation, make it YOUR day. Have lots and lots of fun! That’s an order.
Oh, and please pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
Tomorrow will be here soon enough.
